Job summary

The City of Kenedy is seeking a Wastewater Superintendent to lead the wastewater operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage daily activities. You will supervise staff, oversee budgets, and coordinate preventative maintenance for treatment plants, lift stations, and collection systems.

You will drive reporting to TCEQ and EPA, supervise training and performance evaluations, and lead emergency response for sewer issues and severe weather to protect public health and the environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years in wastewater treatment, collection, or public works.
  • At least two years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience preparing regulatory reports and working with TCEQ.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must hold a TCEQ Class B Wastewater Operator License at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the wastewater treatment plant and ensure compliance with TCEQ and EPA standards.
  • Supervise staff, provide training, and manage performance evaluations.
  • Develop and monitor the department budget for personnel and assets.
  • Ensure accurate regulatory reporting and effluent testing.
  • Implement preventative maintenance for plant, lift stations, and collection system.
  • Lead emergency response for sewers backups, overflows, and weather events.
