Job summary

Berkeley County (SC) Government seeks a Maintenance Technician to conduct inspections and minor preventive maintenance of the wastewater collection system, including pumping stations and treatment facilities. The role involves after-hours emergencies and requires safe driving with a SC license.

The position entails working with pumps, piping, valves and related equipment, plus confined-space work and documentation of activities. Training may be provided for license attainment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related maintenance experience.
• Must have and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assists with repair, installation and maintenance of pumps, piping and related equipment in wastewater systems.
• Operates crane trucks and overhead cranes for pump removal and installation; assists in other heavy equipment tasks.
• Performs pump station operations and ensures proper equipment operation.
• Performs lockout/tagout procedures for safety.
• Performs after-hours duty and emergency response as required.
• Accesses manholes and confined spaces for inspection and maintenance.
• Documents maintenance actions clearly and promptly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
