Job summary

Charles County Government is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician I to perform water and wastewater system maintenance for the County's Utility Department. The role involves assisting skilled mechanics with maintenance, installation and repair of equipment used in the water and wastewater systems.

Essential duties include detecting and repairing faulty components, lubricating machinery, installing equipment, and supporting SCADA monitoring.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED, 1 year mechanical maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Subject to on-call and emergency call backs; safety sensitive; may work beyond normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Detects and repairs faulty machinery components.
• Cleans and lubricates machinery; changes oil as required.
• Installs new or modified machinery and facilities.
• Prepares and transports materials and tools to work sites.
• Connects and disconnects electrical power.
• Monitors SCADA alarms and County radios.
• Maintains safety practices; performs other duties as assigned.
