Job summary

Charleston Water System seeks a Pump Mechanic Supervisor to lead a crew maintaining wastewater pumping stations, motors, pumps, valves, and related equipment. You will supervise, inspect, and assist with repairs ensuring safe, compliant operations.

The role combines hands-on work with supervision, requires four years in utilities, a valid SC driver’s license, and a 6:00am–2:30pm schedule within the Wastewater Collection department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Four years' experience in a public utility or related field with pumps and controls.
• Working knowledge of pipefitting tools and electrical repair instruments.
• Valid SC driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate maintenance of wastewater pumping stations.
• Inspect stations, correct malfunctions, and adjust equipment as needed.
• Repair or upgrade pumps, valves, motors, and piping as required.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues related to pumping stations.
• Ensure compliance with CWS and OSHA safety standards at sites.
• Prepare daily reports and records of work performed.
• May participate in performance evaluations and training.
