Job summary

Anne Arundel County is seeking a full-time Safety Coordinator to support the Bureau of Waste Management Services. You will identify hazards, conduct investigations, and develop programs to reduce risk in county operations.

The role requires knowledge of OSHA/MOSH regulations, safety training delivery, and collaboration with frontline staff to ensure safe work practices and compliance. A four-year degree and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major course work in safety management and program development.
• One or more years of experience in risk management, safety education, or training.
• A valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
• A substitution option: college degree may be substituted year-for-year with up to four additional years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify hazardous workplace conditions and investigate injuries and accidents.
• Develop and implement programs to reduce risk exposure per OSHA and MOSH and other regulations.
• Provide SME guidance on regulatory requirements and field worker practices.
• Plan, develop, and present safety trainings for a wide group of stakeholders.
• Advise operating units on hazardous conditions and stop field operations if danger is imminent.
• Coordinate safety and protective equipment programs and vendor relations.
• Prepare and maintain required reports, statistics, and records.
• Support Emergency Action Planning and IPS principles.
