Anne Arundel County Office of Personnel is seeking an Equipment Operator II for Waste Management Services, part of the Department of Public Works. This full-time, permanent role involves operating medium to heavy construction vehicles, including roll-off and bulk trucks, as well as loaders and backhoes, with extensive public contact.

The position requires scheduled weekend overtime and performing semi-skilled labor tasks.

Qualifications

• This is a semi-skilled and laborer role operating solid waste hauling equipment and various trucks.
• Two or more years of experience operating medium-duty motor equipment.
• A valid commercial Class B motor vehicle operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Drives dump truck and operates support equipment during snow removal operations.
• Monitors small crews of community service workers and inmates for maintenance tasks.
• Files and maintains reports and inspection sheets related to operations.
• Greet and assist customers entering the landfill and convenience center.
• Operates convenience center stationary compactor units for waste management.
• Provides guidance and assistance to customers on disposal and recycling.
• Picks up dumpster cans with a roll off truck and delivers waste to disposal sites.
• Drives bulk item trucks and hauls appliances to recycling sites.
• Operates a backhoe and rubber tire loader to load/unload materials.
• Serves as convenience center crew supervisor in absence of supervisor.
