Job summary

James Madison University is seeking an Integrated Waste Management Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations of the campus waste program and supervise staff. Shift is Monday–Friday, with overtime for events and weather, and occasional summer schedule changes.

Position requires CDL Class B with air brake endorsement and strong regulatory knowledge. The role includes training staff, maintaining records, and supporting recycling, composting, and green initiatives across campus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of integrated waste management and recycling practices.
• Familiar with EPA, DEQ, OSHA regulations for hazardous waste.
• Ability to supervise staff and coordinate daily operations.
• CDL Class B with air brake endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the University's Integrated Waste Management program.
• Coordinate daily work assignments and campus litter routes.
• Provide leadership as backup to the Integrated Waste Management Manager.
• Train and coach staff; ensure safe, efficient work.
• Maintain records for waste management and staff activities.
• Assist with the Hazardous and Universal Waste Program and environmental needs.
• Develop plans to reduce waste and increase recycling campus-wide.
• Educate the JMU community on environmental issues.
• Employee must work all home football games.
• Employee will be designated and work during periods of authorized closings.
