Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a Wage (part-time) Recycling Worker to join Campus Operations in Harrisonburg, VA. The role involves routine outdoor recycling duties, lifting and sorting waste, and supporting sustainability initiatives.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 1:00 pm, averaging up to 29 hours per week with overtime for events and weather. The position is non-benefits and requires a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 30-50 pounds repeatedly, with or without accommodation.
• Ability to work independently and walk/stand for extended periods.
• Demonstrate reliable customer service and outdoor work readiness.
• Must have a valid driver's license for campus operations.
• Willingness to assist outdoors in various weather conditions and on weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Pick up ground litter across campus locations.
• Sort recyclables and empty indoor/outdoor bins.
• Support recycling program and campus waste management.
