Qualifications

• Knowledge of integrated waste management practices, including recycling procedures and litter collection.
• Knowledge of EPA, DEQ, and OSHA regulations for hazardous waste handling.
• Skilled in operating outdoor cleaning equipment and driving trucks with trailers.
• Ability to lead others independently and supervise staff.
• Strong reading, writing, communication, and basic math skills.
• Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Strong supervisory, leadership, and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Ability to evaluate performance, plan priorities, and multitask.
• Must be 19+ with a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Integrated Waste Management program and supervise staff.
• Coordinate daily assignments and campus litter routes for efficiency.
• Serve as backup to the Integrated Waste Management Manager.
• Provide training, coaching, and ongoing staff development.
• Ensure clear communication and resources for safe work.
• Maintain records for waste management, recycling, and staff activities.
• Assist with Hazardous and Universal Waste programs and procurement procedures.
• Develop plans to reduce waste and increase recycling campus-wide.
• Educate the JMU community on environmental issues.
• Employee must work all home football games; position is essential to operations.
