Job summary

Loyola Marymount University is seeking a working supervisor to coordinate shift activities for campus-wide waste management and recycling. You will supervise service staff and student workers, enforce safety, and ensure timely, sanitary waste tasks across the university.

Reports to the Facilities Manager and acts as liaison between managers and staff, coordinating with the recycling center and field operations to support events and campus needs.

Qualifications

• Typically a High School diploma or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years waste management, recycling, or custodial experience and 1 year supervisory experience is highly desirable.
• Proficient with the computer and able to effectively navigate Outlook, Word, Excel and the Department's work order database.

Responsibilities

• Lead and enforce workplace safety and PPE usage.
• Coordinate daily solid waste tasks per the plan.
• Supervise staff, part-time and temporary workers.
• Monitor timesheets and provide staff performance feedback.
• Operate or supervise use of compactors and roll-off containers safely.
• Assist with monitoring work orders and close completed requests.
• Support special events and campus recycling efforts.
• Maintain records on volumes/tonnage and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate recycling collection and processing into marketable grades.
• Ensure proper supplies and equipment for the team.
