Job summary

Loyola Marymount University is seeking a working supervisor to coordinate shift activities for the campus-wide waste management and recycling program. You will supervise service staff, temporary or student employees and coordinate with the Facilities Manager to meet weekly goals while ensuring safety.

Responsibilities include leading safety initiatives, overseeing waste collection operations, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Min 3 years waste management/recycling or custodial experience; 1 year supervisory experience desirable.
Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel and the department work order database.
Exemplary communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Valid California drivers license with satisfactory DMV record.

Responsibilities

Actively lead, enforce and participate in workplace safety, including PPE usage and safety guidelines.
Ensure daily solid waste tasks are completed safely, timely, and sanitary.
Monitor timesheets and contribute to staff performance feedback.
Supervise staff and students; oversee use of compactors, balers, and related equipment.
Coordinate non‑regular solid waste transport and disposal calls as directed by Facilities Manager.
Maintain and close Work Order database entries; track requests and responses.
