Job summary

Rumpke is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate driver routes and service requests across residential, roll-off, and commercial lines. You will communicate with drivers, handle calls, and input data into internal systems to ensure timely service.

The role requires strong communication, map literacy, and the ability to multitask in a busy waste and recycling environment. DOT compliance and safety awareness are important, with flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience reading maps and giving directions for service areas.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, drivers and internal teams.
• Familiarity with multiple lines of business preferred.
• Ability to handle a heavy call volume professionally and efficiently.
• Must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for customers and the company.

Responsibilities

• Effectively dispatch work orders to drivers via radio or phone to customer sites, mainly for commercial line.
• Provide dispatch coverage for other lines during absences and breaks.
• Answer incoming calls from customers and internal teams and take appropriate action.
• Troubleshoot and resolve service, pickup and/or delivery issues.
• Assist management with daily activities of route drivers and ensure routes are completed.
• Assign live loads to drivers based on route or driver location.
• Dispatch work orders and perform data entry into computer system.
• Monitor drivers through GPS (GeoTab) systems.
• Serve as emergency contact for drivers and coordinate with maintenance.
• Manage missed stops and coordinate with customers and staff to resolve issues.
• Help assign and track daily work orders to drivers.
• Ensure drivers complete paperwork per DOT regulations and company policy.
