Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Waukegan, IL is hiring a Warehouse Worker to support daily operations from 7:30am to 4:00pm. This full-time role combines hands-on warehousing with mission-driven work, helping turn donations into funding for community programs.

You will learn and perform duties across loading, inventory, pricing, and donor processing, with paid training and on-the-job coaching. A team environment and employee discounts are offered as part of our benefits.

Warehouse Worker

Pay: $16.00-$17.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm

About the Role

At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community. This dynamic role combines hands‑on warehouse operations with the opportunity to mentor and support program beneficiaries in their work therapy development. You'll help maintain an organized warehouse while making a meaningful impact in people's lives.

What You’ll Do

Warehouse Operations

• Load, unload, and move products to correct departments
• Price merchandise according to guidelines
• Track production numbers and complete reports
• Maintain organized work areas and clean environment
• Operate warehouse equipment as trained
• Follow safety protocols and procedures

Donation Processing

• Assist donors with donation drop-offs
• Complete donation receipts accurately
• Collect and track donor information
• Process various types of donations including:
• Clothing and accessories
• Household items
• Electronics
• Furniture and antiques
• Jewelry and collectibles

Equipment Operation

May be trained to operate:

• Baler
• Compactor
• Forklift
• Elevator
• Other warehouse equipment

Training Provided

• Paid training on processing standards and warehouse procedures
• Ongoing coaching and support from Warehouse leadership
• Opportunity to build retail and customer service skills
