Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Warehouse Worker to support our store operations. This role combines physical warehousing with donation processing, inventory control, and helping maintain a safe, organized workspace.

You’ll gain on-the-job training, work Monday through Friday, with opportunities to operate equipment and develop retail and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred
• Must read, write, and speak English proficiently
• Warehouse experience beneficial

• Basic math and reporting skills
• Good manual dexterity

Responsibilities

• Warehouse Operations: Load, unload, and move products to correct departments; price merchandise; track production numbers; maintain organized work areas; operate warehouse equipment as trained; follow safety protocols.
• Donation Processing: Assist donors with donation drop-offs; complete donation receipts; collect and track donor information; process various donation types (clothing, electronics, furniture, jewelry).
• Equipment Operation: May be trained to operate baler, compactor, forklift, elevator, and other equipment.
• Training Provided: Paid training on processing standards and warehouse procedures; ongoing coaching from warehouse leadership.

Pay: $14.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday

About the Role

At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community. This dynamic role combines hands-on warehouse operations with the opportunity to mentor and support program beneficiaries in their work therapy development. You'll help maintain an organized warehouse while making a meaningful impact in people's lives.

What You'll Do

Warehouse Operations

• Load, unload, and move products to correct departments
• Price merchandise according to guidelines
• Track production numbers and complete reports
• Maintain organized work areas and clean environment
• Operate warehouse equipment as trained
• Follow safety protocols and procedures

Donation Processing

• Assist donors with donation drop-offs
• Complete donation receipts accurately
• Collect and track donor information
• Process various types of donations including:
  • Clothing and accessories
  • Household items
  • Electronics
  • Furniture and antiques
  • Jewelry and collectibles

Equipment Operation

May be trained to operate:

• Baler
• Compactor
• Forklift
• Elevator
• Other warehouse equipment

Training Provided
