Responsibilities

• Warehouse Operations: Load, unload, move products to correct departments; price merchandise; track production numbers; maintain organized work areas; operate warehouse equipment; follow safety protocols.
• Donation Processing: Assist donors with drop-offs; complete receipts; collect donor information; process items including clothing, household items, electronics, furniture, jewelry.
• Equipment Operation: May be trained to operate baler, compactor, forklift, elevator, and other equipment.

Location: Des Moines, IA
Pay: $14.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday days

About the Role

At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community. This dynamic role combines hands-on warehouse operations with the opportunity to mentor and support program beneficiaries in their work therapy development. You'll help maintain an organized warehouse while making a meaningful impact in people's lives.

What You’ll Do

Warehouse Operations

• Load, unload, and move products to correct departments
• Price merchandise according to guidelines
• Track production numbers and complete reports
• Maintain organized work areas and clean environment
• Operate warehouse equipment as trained
• Follow safety protocols and procedures

Donation Processing

• Assist donors with donation drop-offs
• Complete donation receipts accurately
• Collect and track donor information
• Process various types of donations including:
  • Clothing and accessories
  • Household items
  • Electronics
  • Furniture and antiques
  • Jewelry and collectibles

Equipment Operation May be trained to operate:

• Baler
• Compactor
• Forklift
• Elevator
• Other warehouse equipment

Training Provided
