Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping and receiving operations. You will plan staffing, direct the team, and ensure accurate, timely processing of orders and shipments. The role emphasizes safety, equipment operation, and compliance with DOT and OSHA standards.

Job description

• Plan, guide, and direct staff efficiently and timely to meet customer demands, deadlines, and administrative requirements
• Maintain high shipping productivity and efficiency
• Direct Internet shipping processes including picking, sorting, packing, and processing
• Maintain staffing levels for effective receiving operations
• Plan and coordinate work; train, motivate, monitor, and evaluate receiving associates
• Ensure shipping associates safely operate material-handling equipment
• Develop crew leaders to oversee daily routines
• Maintain equipment levels and structure for safe and effective shipping
• Monitor merchandise loading, staging, shipping reports, and shipment readiness
• Ensure shipments are complete and in acceptable condition
• Resolve invoice, packing-slip, and shipping-report discrepancies with accounting
• Monitor paperwork flow from inventory control to shipping for timely data entry
• Measure shipping performance, locator accuracy, and shipping-report accuracy
• Monitor X-carrier, DST, and email frequently to ensure customer satisfaction
• Lead and supervise shipping agents
• Counsel, document, and discipline shipping associates as necessary
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, safety, and 5S warehouse principles
• Ensure safety and compliance practices meet DOT and OSHA standards
• Direct shipments between shipping/receiving platforms and shipping/work areas
• Perform additional assigned duties

Requirements

• Must be able to work weekends
• 2-3 years hands-on supervisory experience required
• 1 year shipping/receiving experience
• Supervisory experience and team building
• Experience with WMS/inventory management systems and RF technology
• Ability to multitask and adjust to dynamic order-flow fluctuations
• Self-starter able to identify production delays and proactively act
• Experience tracking metrics, including team-member productivity KPIs
• Knowledge of automotive parts preferred
• Excellent Microsoft Office application skills
• Outstanding customer relations skills
• Strong team/personnel management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated drive to achieve results
• Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
