Job summary

HarperCollins Publishers is opening a modern, large-scale distribution center in Brownsburg, Indiana, seeking a Manager, People to lead on-site HR operations for a 24/5 warehouse. The role focuses on staff hiring, onboarding, employee relations, investigations, and policy implementation in a fast-paced environment.

You will partner with operations, drive workforce planning, and oversee onboarding and orientation for new hires while supporting leadership development and engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain.
• Experience supporting a multi-shift operation.
• Background in employee relations, investigations, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience with third-party staffing agencies is a plus.
• Proficient in Excel and ability to track detailed information.
• Familiarity with time/attendance or workforce management systems (UKG Kronos a plus).

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site leadership over HR operations in a 24/5 distribution center.
• Drive HR policies, programs, and processes to foster a safe, compliant, high-performing environment.
• Partner with operations leaders on hiring, onboarding, workforce planning, and talent development.
• Coach frontline leaders on employee relations, investigations, performance management, and corrective actions.
• Lead investigations and recommend actions.
• Coordinate recruiting and staffing to meet staffing goals and build local pipelines.
• Extend offers and oversee onboarding of new employees.
• Oversee new employee orientation for positive onboarding experience.
• Collaborate with Corporate COEs for on-site generalist support and compliance guidance.
• Support leadership development, succession planning, performance programs, surveys and engagement.
• Handle other tasks to support Brownsburg operation.
