Job summary

HarperCollins Publishers in Brownsburg, IN is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Team Lead to guide technicians and sustain a highly automated distribution center. You will oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshoot material handling and facility systems, and drive equipment reliability.

The role starts on first shift for onboarding, with a planned transition to third shift after April 5, 2027, based on needs. You will develop teams, apply 5S, and ensure safety compliance and operational readiness.

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or GED and a technical degree preferred.
5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environments.
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting including PLC-controlled automation.
Experience with conveyors, automated material handling equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC, and plumbing.
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, and CMMS systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Willingness to work first, second, or third shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call.

Responsibilities

Lead daily workflow and provide technical direction for technicians.
Coach and train team members to improve skills and performance.
Plan and assign preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot and repair automated material handling, conveyors, packaging, and facility equipment.
Diagnose PLC-controlled equipment and electrical systems; manage 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
Serve as escalation point for complex equipment issues and coordinate with vendors.
