Job summary

Continental General is seeking a Vice President, General Accounting & Bank Ops to lead the accounting operations, including Treasury, AP/AR, GL, and cash reconciliations, in a highly visible, regulated insurance environment. This hybrid role requires strategic thinking, process discipline, and strong team leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective controls.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in accounting/finance with 5+ years in leadership, CPA preferred, and a track record

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA license preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role; insurance industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Treasury operations, banking relationships, and cash management.
• Understanding of insurance statutory accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Proven leadership, people management, and ability to build high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Directs Treasury functions including banking relationships, cash management, and wire transfers.
• Oversees accounts payable/receivable operations and ensures timely processing.
• Ensures timely bank and cash reconciliations and general ledger activity reconciliations.
• Manages unclaimed property compliance and escheatment reporting.
• Owns the department budget process and variance analysis.
• Leads enterprise expense budgeting and capital expenditure forecasting.
• Oversees GAAP and statutory reporting, financial audits, and regulatory examinations.
• Drives process improvement and automation across accounting operations.
• Develops and mentors accounting professionals; drives performance and growth.
