Job summary

Continental Finance Company is seeking a VP, Accounting and Controller to lead the accounting team and oversee the company’s general accounting function. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining accounting systems, month-end close, reconciliations, and policy adherence.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Accounting, 7+ years in accounting with management experience, strong GAAP expertise, and exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of management experience.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting policy.
• Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to communicate with all levels of management.
• Prior credit card or financial services experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including month-end close, journal entries, GL maintenance and supporting schedules.
• Maintain GL reconciliation policy and procedures.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and disclosures.
• Provide U.S. GAAP analysis and policy documentation.
