Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Jersey City, NJ, seeks a Senior Java Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of enterprise-scale data platforms. You will mentor engineers, drive best practices, and build scalable microservices leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native patterns.

As a technical leader, you will shape data pipelines using Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, and Pinot, optimize storage, and collaborate with data science teams to enable analytics at scale.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Framework.
• Experience building scalable data lakes and data platforms.
• Deep expertise in big data frameworks including Iceberg, Pinot, and Hive/HDFS.
• Real-time streaming with Kafka and Flink in production.
• SQL proficiency across AWS/Azure/GCP; containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• 6+ years of experience in data engineering/software/data platform roles; at least 3 in a leadership capacity.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical architecture for Citi's data lake and analytics platform in cloud/hybrid environments.
• Design and develop high-performance Java microservices handling large data volumes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers.
• Build and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines using Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, Pinot, and related tech.
• Optimize storage and query performance across data lakes and lakehouses (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Collaborate with Data Scientists andProduct managers to translate analytics requirements into scalable capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging data technologies to keep the platform at the forefront of innovation.
