Job summary

Citigroup in Jersey City, New Jersey is seeking a Java Software Engineer to join the Institutional Data Platform team. This intermediate role focuses on implementing new or revised application systems in collaboration with the Technology team.

The position covers end-to-end development responsibilities across data platforms used for analytics, client reporting, regulation, and risk. A minimum of 5+ years in Java, Spring, SQL, REST and Git is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Strong proficiency in Java core concepts (OOP, collections, concurrency)
• Expertise in Spring Framework (Spring Boot, MVC, Spring Data)
• Experience with database technologies (SQL, ORM)
• Knowledge of RESTful API design principles
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
• Understanding of design patterns and software architecture
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

Responsibilities

• Feasibility studies, time/cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology
• Monitor all phases of development from design to implementation
• Analyze complex problems and evaluate business processes
• Develop security measures in post-implementation analysis
• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups
• Define operating standards and processes
• Serve as advisor to junior analysts
• Operate with limited supervision and autonomy
• Act as SME to stakeholders and team members
• Escalate and report control issues with transparency
