Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Java Architect in Jersey City, NJ to lead the design and engineering of enterprise-scale data platforms. You will define the architectural vision for Java-based data infrastructure, build scalable pipelines, and guide a team of data engineers to deliver production-grade solutions.

The role requires expert Java/Spring Boot, big data experience with Iceberg/Pinot, Kafka, Flink, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Framework with microservices design.
• Experience building high-volume data lakes and streaming pipelines.
• Deep expertise with Apache Iceberg, Startree/Pinot, Hive/HDFS.
• Production experience with Kafka and Flink in real-time data processing.
• Proficiency in SQL across AWS/Azure/GCP and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• 6+ years in data/soft-ware engineering; 3+ years in technical leadership.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve architecture for Citi's enterprise data lake and analytics platform.
• Design and develop high-performance, secure microservices in Java/Spring Boot.
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers; foster technical excellence.
• Build and maintain streaming pipelines using Kafka and Flink; batch/real-time.
• Optimize storage and query performance across lakehouses (Iceberg, Delta Lake, Snowflake).
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, PMs, and business leaders on analytical needs.
• Prototype emerging data technologies to keep the platform innovative.
