Job summary

Citi in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Senior Data Platform Architect to define and evolve the technical architecture for Citi's enterprise data lake and analytics platform, aligning with cloud-native and hybrid-cloud strategies.

You will design and develop high-performance Java microservices, lead a team of data engineers, and build scalable pipelines with Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, Pinot, while optimizing storage across Delta Lake, Iceberg, Snowflake, and Databricks.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud) and microservices architecture design patterns.
• Hands-on experience building and scaling high-volume distributed data lakes with modern data orchestration, ingestion, processing, and distribution.
• Deep expertise in big data frameworks (Iceberg, Pinot, Hive/HDFS) and distributed computing principles.
• Experience with real-time data streaming (Kafka, Flink) in production environments.
• Proficiency in SQL across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• 6+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or data platform development, including 3+ years in technical leadership.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical architecture and roadmap for Citi's enterprise data lake and analytics platform, aligning with cloud-native and hybrid-cloud strategies.
• Design and develop high-performance, scalable, and secure Java microservices for high-volume data processing.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, fostering technical excellence and agile delivery.
• Build and maintain large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines using Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, Pinot.
• Optimize data storage and query performance across Delta Lake, Iceberg, Snowflake, and Databricks environments.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, AI Researchers, Product Managers, and business leaders to translate analytical requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
• Prototype emerging data technologies to keep the platform at the forefront of innovation.
