Job summary

GLC, a San Francisco-based AI/FinTech company, seeks a VP of Platform Engineering to lead the platform engineering org, define the technical strategy for agentic AI infrastructure, and deliver scalable systems for banks and financial institutions.

You will work closely with the CEO and CTO to drive architectural direction, review code, and shape production-grade solutions while mentoring engineers and growing the team in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with 4–6+ years in technical leadership.
• Experience scaling engineering teams and platforms in venture-backed startups.
• Ownership of production‑scale agentic AI, LLM infrastructure, or ML platforms.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, API design, and backend infra.
• Strong hands‑on programming in Python and/or TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Lead and expand the platform engineering organization, starting with ~4 engineers.
• Own architecture and development of the AI-native platform infrastructure.
• Design and scale production-grade agentic AI systems and runtimes.
• Stay engaged in development, reviews, and strategic engineering decisions.
• Build and operate reliable, scalable cloud environments and APIs.
• Establish standards for performance, reliability, security, and observability.
• Collaborate with CEO/CTO on releases, strategy, and initiatives.
• Drive velocity with AI-assisted development tools; recruit and mentor teams.
• Guide growth in revenue, customers, headcount, and platform complexity.
• Foster a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous innovation.
