Job summary

Open Select in San Francisco is seeking a senior platform engineer to own the AI-native platform core end to end, including runtime, orchestration, and integrations. You will lead a platform team as headcount grows, write production code, and shape architecture with executive leaders.

You will drive velocity, reliability and quality across tooling and observability, while building new initiatives from scratch and collaborating with the CEO/CTO on product direction.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• 4–6 years leading teams.
• Familiar with early-stage startups (seed/Series A/B).
• You still code and review PRs.
• Built/ship production agentic AI or voice AI systems.

Location: San Francisco, Financial District. On-site 5 days a week.

You will join a rare company: a Series A agentic AI startup that is already cash flow positive. Hundreds of credit unions and community banks run on its platform, reaching 10M+ Americans. Its voice and digital agents don't just deflect requests. They resolve them end to end. You will own the platform that powers all of it.

What You’ll Do:

• Own the AI-native platform core end to end: agent runtime, LLM orchestration, retrieval, evals and integrations.
• Lead and grow a platform engineering team of four, with headcount expanding.
• Write production code, review PRs and make the key architecture calls.
• Drive velocity, reliability and quality across tooling, eval gates and observability.
• Build the agent-authoring platform and new initiatives from scratch.
• Work directly with the CEO and CTO on product releases and platform direction.

Who You Are:

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with 4 to 6 years leading teams.
• You joined a startup early, at seed, Series A or Series B, and helped scale its engineering through later rounds.
• You have built and shipped production agentic AI, LLM or voice AI systems, and can point to measurable results.
• You still code, review PRs and make architecture decisions yourself.
• You built systems yourself, not mainly by stitching together vendor tools.
• BS in Computer Science or a related field.
• Bonus: experience with RAG, agent runtimes or eval frameworks, or in banking, fintech or other regulated industries.
