BankGPT is building the AI that integrates with consumers' financial lives. We seek a VP of Engineering who has built an engineering org from the ground up during rapid growth and who can scale a technical team from ~10 to 50+.

You will own architecture, strategy, recruiting, and delivery across platform, AI, and frontend. You'll partner with co-founders and executives to shape product vision, lead recruiting, establish engineering rituals, and drive a high-trust culture focused on quality and

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering, with 4–6 years in engineering leadership at high-growth startups
• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams through growth
• Deep technical credibility in system design and architecture discussions
• Hands-on platform engineering background and experience with production AI systems
• Experience building AI-enabled platforms and working with LLMs at scale
• Ability to hire, interview, and build a high-performing team in SF
• BS/BA in CS required; MS/PhD in CS/AI is a strong plus
• San Francisco-based; 5 days/week in the office

Responsibilities

• Design and grow a world-class engineering organization from ~10 to 50+ engineers
• Define platform strategy, drive architectural decisions, and ensure scalable systems
• Set engineering velocity, processes, tooling, and culture for fast, high-quality shipping
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with product/design/executive teams
• Own AI-native engineering practices and the platform powering real-time AI products
• Champion recruiting, interview processes, and employer branding in the market
• Drive incident response, observability, reliability targets, and rituals
• Present engineering strategy to the board and stakeholders
