Job summary

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is seeking a Director of Volunteer Programs to lead enterprise volunteer initiatives, governance, and staffing across the organization. The role oversees three direct reports and drives recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management for 800+ volunteers.

Responsibilities include designing workforce planning, role design, succession planning, and program governance, with a focus on growth, volunteer experience, and operational alignment

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in volunteer management or similar.
• Experience leading a large, complex volunteer program with multiple supervisors.
• Ability to develop enterprise policies, procedures, and standards for volunteer programs.
• Strong communication, writing, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee enterprise Volunteer Programs across the organization.
• Supervise Manager, Volunteer Programs and two Supervisors, Volunteer Programs.
• Lead volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and recognition.
• Develop growth plans for expanding a base of 800+ volunteers and future initiatives.
