Job summary

Catawba County Social Services seeks a Social Worker II – Volunteer Coordinator to join the Senior Nutrition Services team. You will oversee recruiting, training, scheduling, and coordination of 600+ volunteers and provide social work case management for Home Delivered Meals participants.

You will work to ensure seniors remain safely at home by connecting them with community resources, while supporting program fundraising and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school; OR degree in human services with 1 year social work experience; OR degree in non-human services with 2 years social work experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (Driving is an essential function of this position).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills with an outgoing personality.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and community partners.
• Highly creative and innovative, with comfort in trying new approaches.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate programs, manage competing priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of the delivery area and ability to develop maps for efficient delivery routes.
• Proficient computer skills.
• This position is considered light work; may lift up to 20 pounds to carry meals and coolers.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, trains, schedules, and manages 600+ volunteers for the Home Delivered Meals Program, including background checks, newsletters, calendars, trainings, and annual appreciation event.
• Develops and maintains driving routes for meal delivery and determines route placement for new client referrals.
• Provides social work case management for approximately 120 Home Delivered Meals recipients, including home visits and phone contacts.
• Maintains documentation and records in compliance with standards; conducts customer satisfaction surveys and quality assurance reviews.
• Collaborates with team to support fundraising activities for Senior Nutrition Services.
• Provides support for any area of the program as needed, including answering phones, distributing meals, and backup for the coordinator.
