Job summary

Jefferson County is seeking a Nutrition Services Assistant to support older adults in living independently by promoting better nutrition and reducing social isolation through coordinated nutrition programs. You will register participants, schedule and track meals, and ensure safe food handling and accurate record keeping.

The role includes meal preparation support, dining room setup, and coordinating with drivers for home-delivered meals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with six months related experience or training, or equivalent combo.
• Knowledge of nutrition guidelines and education.
• Knowledge of accurate record-keeping and accounting processes.
• Serving Safe Food Certificate within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Completes registrations for new congregate meal participants.
• Greets participants, takes reservations, calls in accurate meal counts, and coordinates meal delivery.
• Assembles and serves meals, packs home-delivered meals, following food safety standards.
• Prepares dining room setup and cleans kitchen/common areas daily.
• Monitors well-being of participants and contacts appropriate agency if needed.
• Compiles meal participation statistics and maintains monthly roster and logs.
• Provides training to meal site and home-delivered meal volunteers.
• Coordinates special events, activities, and trauma-informed care practices.
