Job summary

FirstEnergy in Akron, Ohio is seeking a Voice & Video Engineer to oversee architecture, engineering, design, and operation of Voice, Video, and UC services. You will manage Cisco CUCM/CMS, LAN and WAN integrations, and ensure reliability for data, voice, and video systems.

You will support daily operations, plan changes, supervise contractors, certify installations, and participate in disaster recovery and regulatory compliance. Strong communication and customer-service focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Associate Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Professional level knowledge of routing and switching, LAN topologies, NAT/Firewall concepts, and Voice & Video technologies.
• OSI reference model knowledge is expected.
• Project management concepts and tools are a plus.
• 4-7 years of professional-level experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily and project support for the Voice team delivering data, voice, video, and computing services to employees, contractors, and partners.
• Plan and complete changes in the LAN/data network environment for data, voice or video work.
• Ensure reliability and availability of data, voice and video systems.
• Collaborate with users and manage expectations of FE business units.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning and documentation for these systems.
• Oversee contractors and certify new installations.
