Job summary

RapidSOS is seeking an AI Engineer for our Voice AI team to own core capabilities end to end—from model behavior and backend architecture to evaluation tooling. Your work will reduce response times in emergencies as you ship improvements across real-time agent systems, APIs, and the user interface.

You’ll bring 2–3+ years in backend or full-stack development, strong Python (async), and familiarity with AI/LLM apps.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of back-end or full-stack engineering delivering production software end to end.
• Hands-on experience building AI/LLM applications and solid fundamentals in distributed systems, APIs, and operational reliability.
• Real-time voice, streaming media, or conversational agent experience is a strong plus.
• Strong Python proficiency, including async programming, and comfort with a TypeScript/React frontend.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end product delivery: Own Voice AI capabilities from discovery to deployment across real-time agent, APIs, web UI, and cloud infra.
• Improve conversational quality: latency, turn-taking, barge-in, speech recognition, multilingual behavior, protocol adherence, and transfers.
• Safety and reliability: design fail-safe behaviors, strengthen observability, respond to production issues with mitigation strategies.
• Evaluation and continuous improvement: automated evaluations, call-replay tools, production metrics, and controlled trials to identify regressions.
• Work across the full stack from Python back-end to React/TypeScript UI used by customers and operators.
• Use AI tools daily to move faster on code, testing, and incident triage while owning architecture and safety boundaries.
