Job summary

Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking an Oral Surgery Assistant to join our Sandston team. You will provide compassionate patient care before, during, and after procedures, assist the surgeon, take digital x-rays, and help maintain accurate charts and sterile environment.

The role requires at least one year of dental assisting or surgery experience, knowledge of sterilization principles, HIPAA awareness, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• One year of dental assisting or surgery technical experience required; oral and maxillofacial surgery experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles.
• Understanding of HIPAA required.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and medical and dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays, and evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, laboratories, and treatment rooms.
• Complete clinical and pharmacy logs according to practice standard.
