Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery in Sandston, VA is seeking an Oral Surgery Assistant to join our fast-paced team in a full-time role. You’ll provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures, assist the surgeon, take digital x-rays, and help maintain sterile environments and accurate charting.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of dental assisting or surgery tech experience, a solid understanding of sterilization principles, HIPAA, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• One year of dental assisting or surgery tech experience.
• Understanding of sterilization principles.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

What You'll Do:

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays, and evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, laboratories, and treatment rooms.
• Complete clinical and pharmacy logs according to practice standard.

What You'll Need:

• One (1) year of dental assisting or surgery technical experience required; oral and maxillofacial surgery experience, preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles, required.
• Understanding of HIPAA, required.
• CPR certification, preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and medical and dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What It Takes:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to assist with sedated patients.
• Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
