Job summary

Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery in Sandston, VA is seeking an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant for a full-time, on-site role. You will support the surgeon, prepare trays, take x-rays, and maintain sterile rooms as part of a fast-paced team focused on patient comfort and exceptional care.

Requirements include 1+ year dental assisting or surgery tech experience, HIPAA knowledge, and strong communication. CPR is preferred; must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• One year of dental assisting or surgery tech experience is required; oral and maxillofacial surgery experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles and HIPAA requirements.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and dental terminology related to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist the surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts during evaluations, procedures, and post-op visits.
• Prepare surgical trays and rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, labs, and treatment rooms.
• Complete clinical and pharmacy logs per practice standards.
