Job summary

Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery in Chester, VA is hiring a full-time Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant. You will provide compassionate patient care before, during, and after procedures, assist the surgeon, and help with post-op visits.

You’ll also handle x-rays, charting, and room preparation in a fast-paced clinical setting. Ideal candidates have at least one year of dental assisting or surgery tech experience, with knowledge of sterilization, HIPAA, and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of dental assisting or surgery technical experience required; oral and maxillofacial surgery experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles, required.
• Understanding of HIPAA, required.
• CPR certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays, and evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, laboratories, and treatment rooms.

What You'll Need:

• One (1) year of dental assisting or surgery technical experience required; oral and maxillofacial surgery experience, preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles, required.
• Understanding of HIPAA, required.
• CPR certification, preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and medical and dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What It Takes:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to assist with sedated patients.
• Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
