Job summary

Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery seeks an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant to join a fast-paced team in the Greater Richmond Area. You’ll provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures, and assist the surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.

You will take digital x-rays and models, document charts accurately, prepare surgical trays and rooms, and maintain instrument sterilization.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of dental assisting or surgery experience, preferably in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
• Understanding of sterilization principles.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and dental terminology related to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays and rooms for procedures.

• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles, required.
• Understanding of HIPAA, required.
• CPR certification, preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy and medical and dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What It Takes:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to assist with sedated patients.
• Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
