Job summary

The American Association for State and Local History seeks a Visitor Services & Volunteer Coordinator for the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage in Ridgeland, SC. This in-person role reports to the Programs & Marketing Director and follows a Tue-Sat, 9:00am-5:00pm schedule; it is a two-year term funded position.

The coordinator will lead visitor services, venue rental, and a revitalized volunteer program, coordinating staff, tours, events, and outreach efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field.
• Experience in a nonprofit, museum, or cultural organization is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with public speaking ability.

Responsibilities

• Welcome museum visitors and serve as front desk contact.
• Schedule volunteers for front desk coverage and tours; process purchases.
• Maintain public and internal schedules; coordinate logistics for events.
• Attend community events to promote the center and programs.
• Revitalize and manage a volunteer program; recruit and train volunteers.
• Support marketing, outreach, and program coordination as needed.
• Assist with venue rental operations and contract staffing as required.
