Job summary

South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism seeks a Tourism Coordinator I to deliver outstanding visitor service at the Hardeeville Welcome Center. You will promote South Carolina destinations and accommodations to encourage longer visits and higher visitor spending while expanding your knowledge of SC tourism products.

The role requires training participation, strong communication, and teamwork with staff and partners, alongside lifting, travel, and occasional overnight training.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in hospitality, marketing, public relations, retail or closely related field preferred.
  • Two years of customer service/public contact experience in a related field if not holding an Associate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to Welcome Center visitors.
  • Promote destinations and accommodations to extend stays and increase visitor expenditures.
  • Expand knowledge of SC tourism products and Welcome Center operations through training.
  • Maintain inventory of literature and promotional materials.
  • Gather and enter traveler research information into database.
  • Maintain good working relationships with Visitor Service staff and partners; promote teamwork.
  • Collaborate with PRT departments and external tourism partners.
