Job summary

Rosin Eyecare in Paramus, NJ is seeking an Optometric Technician to support eye exams and pre-exam testing. You will assist the optometrist, manage patient flow, and operate the POS system while ensuring accuracy and HIPAA compliance.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in optometry or healthcare, strong communication, and organizational skills. This role requires reliability, teamwork, and the ability to work varied evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience in optometry, ophthalmology or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
• Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (pre-exam testing, pretesting, visual acuity, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs various tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations including visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist in accurate diagnosis and treatment for the patient in appropriate time frame.
• Identifies situations involving dissatisfied patients and acts quickly for resolution.
• Handles and files all patient records in an organized and efficient manner in accordance with HIPAA.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including contact lens care, trial inventory and patient orders.
• Operates the point-of-sale system and processes sales transactions as required.
• Maintains a safe working environment and supports compliance of visual merchandising.
