Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optical Consultant to support Optometrists and patient care in a busy Bellevue, WA practice. You will perform preliminary evaluations and patient education to ensure high-quality care and accurate records.

You will also handle scheduling, documentation, basic testing, and contact lens instruction while maintaining a clean, efficient work environment. A high school diploma and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong attention to detail in fast-paced settings.
• Proficiency with MS Office and general computer skills.
• Able to work collaboratively within a team and communicate clearly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary patient evaluations prior to exam (dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Interview patients to identify medical issues before visits.
• Schedule referrals and manage related paperwork as needed.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Answer patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• Conduct diagnostic testing with equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with medical documentation and CPT/billings.
• Ensure schedule utilization via confirmations and recalls.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal classes and inventory.
• Handle end-of-day wrap-up and organize the practice area.
• May act as a scribe for the Optometrist or assist with refractions.
• Perform other duties as requested.
