Job summary

Greater Commonwealth Virtual School in Massachusetts is seeking a Middle School MTSS Reading Interventionist with a primary focus on reading. You will design, deliver, and oversee Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, and coordinate MTSS meetings to track progress and ensure equitable outcomes.

You will collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families, deliver virtual instruction aligned to Massachusetts frameworks, and monitor data to tailor supports for each learner in a fully remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
• Valid MA State Teaching Licensure in Education, Reading/Literacy Specialist, or Special Education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Science of Reading, Orton-Gillingham methods, or structured literacy principles.
• Deep familiarity with MTSS, data-driven decision-making, and Tiered instruction models.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience: 3–5 years of teaching experience, middle school preferred.
• Proficiency with virtual platforms (Schoology, eSped, PowerSchool, Google Suite).

Responsibilities

• Deliver explicit, diagnostic, and systematic Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading instruction to small groups and individuals.
• Administer diagnostic reading assessments to identify skill deficits.
• Differentiate instruction and adapt materials to maximize engagement.
• Facilitate MTSS/SST meetings to review progress and plan interventions.
• Help teachers interpret data and determine Tier 2/3 needs.
• Communicate with parents about intervention plans and student growth.
• Deliver curriculum virtually aligned with MA Curriculum Frameworks.
• Maintain a supportive virtual learning environment.
• Collaborate with staff and families to support student outcomes.
