At Benebone, we know that dogs make us better people. We live healthier, happier lives because of them. Our mission is simple: make lives better for dogs and the people who love them. We do that through quality, community, and a good dose of fun. We strive to make a lasting positive impact on everyone we touch.
We’re sniffing out a strategic, hands‑on, and people‑first Vice President of Operations to lead every part of how Benebone makes, moves, and delivers its products. You’ll own operations and supply chain from end to end, including demand and supply planning, purchasing, manufacturing partners, quality, logistics, warehousing, and order fulfillment. You’ll set the operational strategy, turn it into clear plans and metrics, and build the team, systems, and processes that take Benebone to its next stage of growth. Your goal is simple: make sure every chew reaches shelves, doorsteps, and happy dogs on time, at the right cost, and to the quality standard our customers expect. As we grow, so will your scope.
We take the work seriously, but not ourselves. We have a pizza oven, an ice cream maker, bottomless Diet Coke, free dog toys, occasional office pranks, team events, volunteer days, and a CEO who has been known to dress like a plant. This is a senior leadership role with a real seat at the table: you’ll work directly with the CEO and Executive Team and help shape where Benebone goes next. If you want a predictable corporate job with six layers of bosses between you and the CEO, this probably is not it. If you want to lead the operations of a fast‑growing, dog‑obsessed company where “that’s not my job” is not part of the vocabulary, fetch your resume and send it our way.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all U.S. operations and supply chain activity, from first sniff of demand to final delivery, across planning, purchasing, production, quality, logistics, warehousing, and order fulfillment
- Set and deliver the operations strategy, annual operating plan, and department budget in partnership with the COO and Executive Team
- Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing Operations team of managers, planners, and coordinators, with clear goals, accountability, and room for everyone to grow
- Own Benebone’s Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, aligning demand forecasts, inventory targets, production plans, and purchasing with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance
- Lead our relationships with international manufacturing partners and suppliers, including capacity planning, cost negotiations, supply agreements, performance scorecards, and factory visits
- Champion product quality and safety, partnering with Product on specifications, testing, certifications, regulatory requirements, and corrective actions so every bone lives up to the Benebone name
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, freight, 3PL and warehouse partners, customs and import compliance, and tariff strategy
- Lead order‑to‑cash operations across retail, distributor, and e‑commerce channels, including Amazon, EDI, routing guides, on‑time‑in‑full performance, and chargeback reduction
- Own inventory health, balancing in‑stock rates, inventory turns, and aged stock so we never leave a customer (or a dog) waiting
- Drive improvements in cost of goods, landed cost, freight spend, and working capital without compromising quality or service
- Set the KPIs and executive reporting that make operational performance easy to see and decisions easier to make
- Scale our systems and processes across NetSuite, planning tools, Power BI, EDI, and warehouse platforms, and look for smart ways to automate and simplify
- Strengthen supply chain resilience through dual sourcing, risk planning, and business continuity plans
- Guide the operational side of new product launches, packaging changes, and customer programs from first prototype to first pallet
- Keep the pack pulling together like it’s the Iditarod, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and fun
- Participate in Habitat for Humanity builds, community events, and service activities
- Speak up about what we can do better, whether it’s operations, product development, social media, or philanthropy
