Position Summary: The Vice President of Operations is a visionary leader responsible for optimizing and scaling the company’s operational infrastructure, encompassing accounting, planning, supply chain, procurement, and inventory management. This strategic role ensures operational excellence through effective management of current systems (QuickBooks Online for accounting; SOS for operations), spearheading system enhancement initiatives, and maintaining visibility across order management, material flow, and operational reporting.
In addition to tactical oversight, the VP of Operations will be instrumental in building and developing the operations organization as the business continues to grow. This includes establishing structure, hiring key talent, and defining scalable processes throughout the supply chain and production landscape. The ideal candidate is analytical, systems-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, demonstrating leadership and strategic insight at every level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Systems Ownership & Optimization
- Serve as the business owner for SOS (Operations); ensuring data integrity, user adoption, and cross-functional alignment and operations aspects to QuickBooks Online (Accounting).
- Provide continuity and leadership for processes previously supported by PC-MRP by overseeing system configuration, enhancements, integrations, and user training.
- Develop and implement dashboards, KPI reporting, and custom analytics to support real-time visibility and executive decision-making.
- Build & Scale the Operations Organization
- Design a comprehensive operations organizational roadmap that aligns with the company’s growth trajectory.
- Identify resource, process, and capability gaps; propose and execute strategic hiring plans.
- Develop clear job roles, performance expectations, and cross-functional workflows that enhance organizational efficiency.
- Mentor, coach, and elevate team members, establishing a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- SKU Analysis & Operations Intelligence
- Conduct detailed SKU analysis to assess profitability, demand trends, costing, and lifecycle planning.
- Maintain and optimize item masters, BOM structures, and operational metadata, providing insights to support pricing and procurement strategy.
- Own the sales order acceptance workflow, ensuring orders meet contractual, operational, and financial criteria.
- Coordinate with customer service, planning, and finance teams for timely and accurate sales order processing, while monitoring order status and capacity alignment.
- Planning & Production Coordination
- Lead production planning, capacity modeling, and scheduling to meet customer demands and operational targets.
- Align planning processes across procurement, inventory, and production teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Identify bottlenecks and proactively recommend adjustments to processes or resources.
- Supply Chain & Procurement Leadership
- Oversee procurement, vendor management, cost analysis, and material sourcing to ensure optimal supply chain operations.
- Maintain supplier KPIs, negotiate pricing and terms, and implement strategies to enhance quality and mitigate risk.
- Manage freight operations, including inbound/outbound logistics, carrier relationships, and optimization of freight costs.
- Ensure transportation visibility, track shipments, and resolve transit issues, leading root-cause analysis for logistics disruptions.
- Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and reconciliation across all locations to ensure operational integrity.
- Improve inventory controls, safety stock models, and demand forecasting while providing leadership on inventory reduction opportunities.
- Establish and evolve best-practice operational processes across the supply chain, planning, inventory, and systems landscape.
- Drive the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and operational training.
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 7–10+ years of experience in operations, supply chain, or manufacturing leadership roles.
- Bachelor Degree in Business Management or related field, Master's a plus.
- Proven experience in building or scaling operational teams within a growth-focused environment.
- Deep expertise in ERP/MRP systems (such as QBO, SOS, or similar tools).
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities, with a track record of designing dashboards and operational reports.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated success in improving processes, reducing inefficiencies, and scaling operations.
Preferred:
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, EMS, or hardware production environments.
- Prior involvement in ERP system implementations or migrations.
- Working knowledge of freight logistics, inventory control systems, and manufacturing planning tools.
