Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Jersey City, NJ is seeking an experienced Java backend developer to design and implement scalable microservices using Spring Boot and modern Java frameworks.

You will work with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into robust software solutions with a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and security. The role requires 6–10 years of backend Java experience, deep knowledge of Spring ecosystem, microservices, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of hands-on Java backend development with core Java concepts.
• Experience with Spring Boot, JPA, Spring Cloud, JDBC, Hibernate, REST, and Maven; Java 8+ features.
• Proven experience transforming data between XML/JSON/SWIFT/CSV formats.
• Extensive experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and cloud platforms.
• Desirable exposure to Kafka and related messaging (TIBCO EMS, IBM MQ).
• Strong SQL and NoSQL knowledge; MongoDB preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into robust software solutions with product teams.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure designs meet architecture standards.
• Design and build complex solutions aligned with architecture blueprint.
• Coordinate integration, SIT, and UAT to ensure quality deployments.
• Mentor junior engineers and address Risk & Control items.
• Lead code releases across environments.
