Citigroup Inc. is seeking a Senior Back-End Java Developer to join a back-office trading application team in Jersey City. You will design, build, and sustain high-performance software for trading infrastructure and enterprise-scale systems.

You will champion trunk-based development, test automation, and secure coding while leading with a mix of hands-on work and mentorship. This role emphasizes distributed systems and modern delivery practices.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on coding in Kotlin, Java, and Python for enterprise apps.
• Deep expertise in microservices, Spring Boot, high availability, and low-latency systems.
• Proficiency with Kafka, Solace, Tibco, MQ and data pipelines.
• Cloud-native tech: Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift.
• Oracle SQL in high-performance environments.
• Experience with trunk-based development, feature flags, and progressive delivery.
• Proficient in TDD/BDD and automation-first testing.
• Designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Code reviews, mentoring, and cross-functional teamwork.
• Observability and production monitoring in distributed financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-office trading apps following SOLID and modern patterns.
• Implement trunk-based development, feature flags, and progressive delivery.
• Apply TDD/BDD to ensure high test coverage and reliability.
• Drive CI/CD, DevOps, IaC, and automated testing for reliability.
• Build distributed, event-driven microservices using Kafka, Solace, Tibco, MQ.
• Review code and enforce secure coding standards and security policies.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams.
• Partner with DevOps to optimize pipelines and observability.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions.
