Job summary

Atlas Search is seeking a VP of Finance/Controller to build and lead the finance and accounting infrastructure for a fast-growing, PE-backed, multi-site platform. The role is remote with travel, requiring attendance in the Southeast and frequent executive-level collaboration with the Board and lenders.

The role owns controllership, drives the monthly close and consolidations, and leads ERP implementation while guiding acquisition integrations and developing a centralized finance organization.

Qualifications

• CPA required for the role.
• 10+ years in accounting, controllership, and finance.
• Deep knowledge of monthly close, consolidations, GAAP accounting, and internal controls.
• Experience in multi-location or multi-entity environments.
• Experience integrating acquisitions in a highly acquisitive org.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly close, consolidation, and GAAP reporting across platform and subsidiaries.
• Establish a consistent close calendar and reporting framework across regions.
• Build cash, inventory, and internal control environments across multiple locations.
• Produce consolidated reporting, KPIs, and location-level unit economics for stakeholders.
• Lead ERP and finance-technology selection and integration with systems.
• Oversee acquisition integrations including opening balance sheets and purchase accounting.
• Partner with investment team on diligence and post-close integration.
• Standardize accounting practices across controllers and finance teams.
• Develop the centralized platform finance organization as the company scales.
• Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, lenders, and partners.
• Oversee platform expenses, payroll, and potential PEO/benefits.

VP of Finance | Private Equity-Backed Multi-Site Platform | Remote with Travel - Must Sit In South East

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a private equity-backed platform that is building a rapidly growing, multi-location business through acquisition. The company is seeking a VP of Finance/Controller to build and lead the finance and accounting infrastructure needed to support continued expansion.

This is a highly hands-on leadership role with significant exposure to the executive team, Board, lenders, and investment team. The individual will own the controllership function while building the systems, processes, controls, and team required to integrate acquisitions and scale the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close, consolidation, and GAAP financial reporting across the platform and its operating companies.
• Establish a consistent close calendar and reporting framework across regional businesses and headquarters.
• Build and maintain strong cash, inventory, and internal control environments across a multi-location operation.
• Produce consolidated financial reporting, KPIs, and location-level unit economics for management, the Board, lenders, and investors.
• Lead the selection and implementation of the company's ERP and broader finance technology stack, including integration with operating systems and data platforms.
• Own the financial integration of new acquisitions, including chart-of-accounts conversion, opening balance sheets, purchase accounting, banking/payroll cutovers, and close integration.
• Partner with the investment team on M&A diligence, working-capital analysis, purchase accounting, and post-close integration.
• Lead and standardize accounting practices across controllers and finance teams within acquired operating companies.
• Build and develop the centralized platform finance organization as the company scales.
• Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, lenders, and other financial partners.
• Oversee platform-level expenses, payroll, and potentially the implementation of PEO/benefits administration.

Candidate Profile

Required:

• CPA
• 10+ years of progressive accounting, controllership, and finance experience
• Deep expertise in monthly close, consolidations, GAAP accounting, and internal controls
• Experience operating in a multi-location or multi-entity environment
• Experience within a highly acquisitive organization and integrating acquired businesses
• Personally led an ERP or finance systems implementation end-to-end
• Strong cash and inventory control experience
• Proven ability to lead, assess, hire, and develop accounting and finance professionals
