Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, business or a related field; Master’s degree a plus. Relevant experience above the minimum may substitute for the degree.

Experience : Minimum of five (5) years management or administrative experience in health care with an emphasis on operations management; hospice experience and management of multiple sites preferred.

Additional Requirements : Exceptional administrative, management, analytical and communication skills. Must have reliable transportation, automobile insurance, and a valid driver’s license. Extensive travel within the Arkansas Hospice service area required, including some overnight travel. Periodic out-of-state travel may also be required for attendance at conferences and meetings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the CEO and leadership team, oversee the day-to-day running of the organization and its affiliated programs to ensure efficiency and effective operations.
  • Promotes a culture of ownership and commitment to the mission, vision and values of the organization, and leads employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
  • Serves as Associate/Alternate Administrator for all Arkansas Hospice programs, serving as Administrator in the absence of the CEO.
  • Assists the CEO in formulating and accomplishing the goals and strategic plans of the organization.
  • Participates in new program development and implementation.
  • Actively assists the CEO in preparing board materials, coordinating meetings, and maintaining clear lines of communication between the board and senior leadership.
  • Data collection and analysis and respond timely to results.
  • Oversee administrative departments: Information Technology, Facilities, Human Resources, and Compliance (Finance excluded).
  • Drive the development of detailed business plans by engaging key stakeholders and aligning goals for both new initiatives and existing operations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategic planning initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the CEO and leadership team, leads in the development and accomplishment of comprehensive goals for quality, satisfaction, census and financial performance.
  • Produce and leverage data for decision-making, implement KPIs, and drive performance through analytics.
  • Assists CEO and the other Vice Presidents in leadership development.
  • Focuses on innovation and modernizing systems to ensure efficiency and excellent care.
  • Serves as a voting member on the Boards of Managers of subsidiary LLCs.
  • Serves as a non-voting member of the Board of Arkansas Hospice, Inc. and Arkansas Hospice Foundation, Inc.
  • Advises the CEO and other executives on administrative matters and potential risks and provides comprehensive solutions to mitigate the risks.
  • Supports initiatives to achieve superior HIS (HOPE) and CAHPS scores at all locations.
  • In collaboration with the CEO, CFO and the leadership team, participates in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the annual budget.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of administrative policies and procedures that establish clear expectations and efficient and effective program operations.
  • Coordinates and prepares agendas, reports, and key documents to ensure leadership meetings are productive and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and applicable regulatory, licensing, certification, and accreditation requirements.
  • In collaboration with the CEO and CFO, manages the contracting process and monitors contract implementation and compliance. Also, be available to assist the CFO with insurance company contracts.
  • Promotes positive employee relations through open communication, fair treatment, and consistent application of policies.
  • Works with HR and leadership to design employee acquisition and retention initiatives, such as professional development opportunities, bonus structures, mentorship programs, and career advancement pathways.
  • Drives a culture of accountability and excellence by establishing clear expectations, providing resources, and recognizing high performance.
  • Travels to each location on a regular basis to work with the local leadership to collaborate on administrative issues and mission support optimization.
  • Promotes Arkansas Hospice mission and values to staff and the community; represents Arkansas Hospice and its subsidiary companies to the community as requested.
  • Pursues growth and development opportunities in leadership, management education, professional, and area networking associations.
  • Shares administrative call.
  • Completes performance evaluations for all assigned staff in a timely manner.
  • Develops budget and manages expenses within established limits.
  • Manages FTE’s within established guidelines including controlling agency and overtime expenses.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  • Utilizes and models excellent customer service skills at all times; seeks opportunities to assist patients, families and co-workers; demonstrates teamwork and cooperation.
  • Accepts direction and follows instructions from supervisor; seeks additional information as needed; works with minimal supervision.
  • Adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Continually meets organizational standards for attendance and punctuality; notifies supervisor in a timely manner when employee will be absent or late for work.
  • Attends all required meetings and in-services; seeks opportunities for additional professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Perform other functions as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.
