Mission
IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Managing Director of Grants to join our growing Business Office team. This role reports to the Vice President of Treasury and Grants. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local grants, evaluating major programs and staff annually for cost savings, and supporting leadership during planning.
Description
The Managing Director of Grants will support all 13 regions across 15 states, overseeing federal, state, and local grant compliance, leading partnerships, and guiding the grants team. Supervisory responsibilities include managing Directors of Grants, Philanthropic Grants, Compliance, Public Competitive Grants, and Grants Accountants.
Location & Travel
This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preferences for candidates in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin, Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County. Travel up to 30% during peak periods is expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead grant compliance training and support for leaders
- Oversee program planning, implementation, and budget monitoring
- Develop and deliver training on grants and compliance risks
- Review and approve grant reimbursements and documentation
- Prepare internal reports and coordinate with stakeholders
- Present grant updates to boards and committees
- Ensure payroll and internal controls compliance
- Support policy development and internal audits
- Collaborate on district and campus planning and improvement plans
- Monitor and revise corrective action plans for high-risk grants

Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or economics
- 7+ years in accounting, finance, or grants, with federal and state program focus
- 5+ years familiarity with EDGAR regulations

- Master’s degree in related fields
- Supervisory experience of 5-7 years
Compensation & Benefits
