Petco is hiring a Veterinary Technician for our Vetco Total Care hospital. You will provide high-quality care to patients and excellent service to their owners, supporting doctors and team members.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients, assisting with surgeries, maintaining records, and educating clients. The role emphasizes compassionate care, teamwork, and adherence to hospital protocols in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state where the hospital is located.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, sympathetic and professional demeanor under stress.
• Telephone and computer skills for front desk and records.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vitals, and begin EMR documentation.
• Assist veterinarian with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Restrain patients, process lab samples, dispense medications as directed, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, and manage records and billing.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and care for recovery and discharge.
• Provide in-hospital treatments, medications, and IV therapies as directed.
• Train new staff and share knowledge; keep hospital clean and organized.
• Provide backup phone/front desk support as needed.
